Dr Ian Brooks is an Adjunct Senior Fellow at the University of Canterbury where
he teaches courses on leadership and interpersonal/group dynamics on the MBA Programme. He has been recognised for the quality of his teaching, including being the recipient of the University of Canterbury Teaching Award. He was voted Best Lecturer by the University of Canterbury Students Association in 2006. In 2008 he was invited to become an inaugural member of Ako Aotearoa, the National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence.
Ian has a PhD, an MBA (Hons), an MEd (Dist) in Counselling, and a Certificate in Experience-based Learning and Training from the NTL Institute in the US.
Ian is the founder and director of his own consultancy practice. He is a highly experienced trainer and facilitator, as well as a leadership coach.
Ian has extensive personal leadership experience, including eight years in senior management and chief executive roles in the private sector, where he was responsible for over 400 staff. He was also an officer in the (Reserve) army for 12 years. He lives in Christchurch with his wife Ali.
